Here’s what no seller wants to talk about…
Freeze dryers are amazing — but they can break. And when they do, your support options matter a lot more than most buyers realize.
We’ve had too many conversations with people who bought from big-box stores or direct from the U.S. manufacturer — and regretted it the moment something went wrong.
Let’s talk about the top reasons people don’t buy
— and how we help overcome them:
| Objection | The Worry | Our Response |
| “It’s a big investment.” ➞ | What if it’s not worth it? ➞ | We use ours regularly — and help you succeed. |
| “I’m scared something will go wrong.” ➞ | Repairs are expensive and complicated. ➞ | We’re certified repair techs — in Alberta. |
| “I’ve heard horror stories from other buyers.” ➞ | I don’t want to be stuck with a lemon. ➞ | We advocate for our customers when issues arise. |
| “I don’t know which size to buy.” ➞ | I don’t want to make a mistake. ➞ | We’ll help you pick the right one for your needs. |
💬 “Why are some people hesitant to buy a freeze dryer?”
Because they’ve heard others were frustrated:
- “It broke, and I had to ship it across the border at my own expense.”
- “Harvest Right told me the machine should be working — but it wasn’t.”
- “The part was supposed to be under warranty, but I still had to pay shipping, customs, and wait weeks.”
I bought the medium sized one from them in January, one of the best investments i have made.
Quick and friendly customer service both online and face to face.

🛠 Protect Your Investment:
What Most Sellers Won’t Tell You
🧾 Let’s Talk Warranty (The Honest Version)
Here’s the truth, in plain English:
| Warranty Years | What’s Covered? | Who Pays What? |
|---|---|---|
| Year 1 – Full Warranty | Whole machine & vacuum pump | Manufacturer pays parts + labor. You pay shipping to a repair shop. |
| Years 2–3 – Limited Warranty | Refrigeration system only (compressor, condenser, evaporator) | Manufacturer pays for repair. You pay for diagnostics, and shipping. |
| In Canada? | You arrange your own repair & shipping | Customer responsible for all transport/shipping costs. We are your approved Alberta service centre. |
In short? Freeze Dryers (and their parts) are big, heavy, and expensive to ship. You don’t want to pay for it – and neither does Harvest Right. Here’s how we can help:
We're Your Local Advocate for Service
We don’t just sell you a machine...
We back it up with real-world, boots-on-the-ground support that no one else in Canada is offering:
- We’re Harvest Right Certified Repair Technicians — the first in Canada.
- We stock parts and can perform in-house repairs in Alberta.
- We support your warranty claims — and help you get answers when the process gets tricky.
- We offer free part shipping to our shop for customers who bought from us.
- We actually use the machines ourselves. That means we know what’s normal, what’s not — and how to fix it.
- We are Alberta local - Saving you time and money.
"It’s cheaper to buy directly from the manufacturer."
Occasionally Harvest Right seems to offer tantalizing low prices – but be prepared for hidden costs that might surprise you.
- “Free shipping” is USA only.
(I got quoted $415 USD to ship) - Prices are not CAD
(So multiplied by approximately 1.37) - Import fees are a wild card.
- If you encounter warranty trouble – you’ll have to send it back at your expence.
Our customers still typically save at least $50 CAD when buying from us during Harvest Right’s more aggressive sales!
A Certified Repair Shop is a BIG deal:
The Harvest Right warranty may sound like any appliance warranty… but freeze dryers are a different story.
-
Here’s what most people don’t realize:
-
❌ Regular appliance or HVAC shops often won’t touch freeze dryers. They’re not trained – and many turn the job down.
-
❌ If a non-certified shop does the repair, your warranty could be void. Harvest Right won’t cover future issues unless the work was certified.
-
✅ As a Certified Harvest Right Repair Shop, our work keeps your full warranty intact.
We’re factory-trained, and when we do the job, you’re covered — no questions asked.
We are Canada’s Only Certified Harvest Right Repair Shop

(BC/ Alberta/ Saskatchewan.)

Purchasing FAQs
💵 Can you price match a USA price?
We understand that Harvest Right’s U.S. website sometimes advertises tempting sales — but those prices often come with hidden costs for Canadians.
Harvest Right sets our Canadian retail pricing, and we follow that structure. While we don’t currently offer a price match guarantee, our customers are often surprised to find that buying through us is actually a better deal in the end.
Here’s why:
-
“Free shipping” is U.S. only. Canadian shipping is often quoted at $400+ USD.
-
Prices on the U.S. site are in USD. With exchange rates (often around 1.37), that low price adds up quickly.
-
Import and brokerage fees can be a wild card at the border.
-
Warranty repairs must be handled through Harvest Right U.S. — meaning you pay to ship your unit back.
Even during aggressive U.S. sales, many of our customers still save $50 CAD or more by ordering through us — not to mention the peace of mind that comes from dealing with a local, certified repair shop here in Alberta.
📦 What size is right for me?
That’s one of the hardest questions — because everyone’s needs are so different!
Here’s what we’ve heard from our customers:
-
Most families who start with a Small often wish they had gone with a Medium.
-
Homesteaders and small businesses who start with a Medium often come back for a second unit — usually a Largeor XL.
Choosing the right size depends on your goals, how much food you want to preserve at a time, and how often you plan to run the machine.
To help you compare specs and batch sizes, check out our Freeze Dryer Comparison Chart.
Still unsure? Send us a quick email — we’d be happy to give you a personalized recommendation based on your situation.
🛒 Is it in stock?
The stock info on our freeze dryer compairison tables, and product lsitigns are dynamic and change automaticly to refelct our real stock status. And we have new stock of Medium and Large freeze dryers ariving monthly.
If you need more details send us an email to ask about specifics.
⏱️ How long will it take to arrive?
It depends on the model and current demand, but most orders arrive within 2 to 4 weeks.
Because we’re a Canadian distributor, we handle customs and import for you — no surprise brokerage fees, no shipping delays at the border.
We’ll keep you updated throughout the process, and you’ll get tracking info as soon as your unit ships. If you’d like an estimate for a specific model or need it by a certain date, just reach out — we’re happy to check stock or lead times for you.
🚚 Do you deliver to me? / Where do you deliver?
We ship freeze dryers anywhere in Alberta, British Columbia, and Saskatchewan — right to your door.
Accessories? We ship those anywhere in Canada, coast to coast.
Not sure if we deliver to your specific address? Just send us a quick message — we’re happy to check and confirm!
📫 ✅ Will it arrive safely?
Freeze dryers are heavy, sensitive machines — so safe delivery is a top priority.
No matter who you buy from, all freeze dryers ship on a pallet with a bottomless box. This lets you inspect the unit on arrival before accepting it as undamaged.
While freight damage can happen (even to us), home deliveries often arrive in better shape than shipments sent to warehouses. If anything looks wrong when your unit arrives, you can flag it right away — and we’ll help you through the next steps.
Have questions about how to inspect your unit on delivery day? We’re happy to walk you through what to look for.
💳 Why don’t you offer financing?
We’ve chosen not to offer in-house financing because we want to keep our prices as low and honest as possible — no hidden fees, no interest traps, and no pressure to buy beyond your means.
We can split a payment between multiple cards if needed — just let us know before checkout.
If financing is the only thing holding you back, reach out. We may be able to suggest timing your purchase around upcoming sales, promotions, or have a refurbished scratch and dent model available to help make it more affordable for your family.
📍 Where are you located?
We’re proudly based in Didsbury Alberta, Canada, jsut off of Highway II between Red Deer and Calgary.
As the only certified Harvest Right repair shop in Canada, we serve customers across Alberta, British Columbia, and Saskatchewan — offering local support, faster delivery, and peace of mind you won’t get from a larger retailer.
Want to pick up accessories or talk shop in person? Send us a message — visits are by appointment only.
🛠️ What type of warranty and tech support is offered?
Every freeze dryer comes with Harvest Right’s standard 3-year limited warranty, which covers parts and labor for manufacturer defects.
But here’s where buying through us really helps:
We’re Alberta’s only certified Harvest Right repair shop, which means:
-
Warranty repairs can be done locally — no need to ship your unit across the border.
-
You keep your full Harvest Right warranty intact.
-
You get faster service and real support from people who actually use these machines.
Have an issue after your warranty ends? We’re still here to help — with parts, repairs, and honest advice.
One last thing…
In the last few years, many of us have realized just how fragile our food systems really are. We wanted to build a real, long-term food supply for our family — something sustainable, nutritious, and shelf-stable. But we quickly ran into the same challenges you might be facing now: expiry dates, food waste, constant rotation, and the rising cost of groceries.
When we finally tried freeze drying at home, everything changed. It just made sense — and it worked. We were so impressed, we decided to help other Alberta families do the same.
Self-reliance isn’t selfish. It’s a way to be ready to help your neighbour, support your community, and ensure that the food available in a crisis gets to those who truly need it.
That’s why we started Freeze Drying Alberta:To help equip families to build real food security — and a stronger Alberta — one household at a time.
